Pastor Aland’s Story - God’s Guiding Hand

Pastor Aland was born in Malaysia and came from a Christian family. He is the only one in full-time ministry but, by the grace of God, his family are all followers of Jesus and Christian. He went to Thailand to stay with his wife, closing his business in Malaysia and staying in a foreign country for love. He was called into ministry by God when the previous pastor, an American pastor named Joe Nelson, of the church he had been attending had wanted to leave the church and he asked Pastor Aland to take over for him. A mentor was supposed to help the transition along and guide Pastor Aland but the mentor never showed up. Instead of being disheartened and seeing this as a sign to give up, Pastor Aland took over the role as a pastor and had lots of challenges to overcome as this had been his first time ever preaching.

Pastor Aland has been a pastor in Phuket, Thailand, a tourist island filled to the brim with diverse international tourists and one of the most popular tropical island destinations in the world. Now, Phuket is faced with a dire situation as Thailand’s borders have closed due to COVID19. What was once a busy tourist area filled with shops and great businesses is now a ghost town with hundreds of hungry families.

Seeing the hungry people in Phuket, Pastor Aland asked his wife for help. They got the church to sponsor a meal and prepared 50-60 packets for two weeks. Then the church in Bangkok doubled that, turning what should have been two weeks into five weeks and 60 packets to over 200 packets a day. They simply spoke and did their part, giving what they could and God provided the miracle. From 60 packets, God’s hand can been seen on how it had multiplied to 200 packets.

Pastor Arland’s plan had been small, had been about what he could give but God’s plan for him was bigger and He had given the resources and brought the miracle to make it happen. Pastor Aland took the first steps and opened himself to God’s plan, to God’s guiding hand.
