To the world, a city represents the center of commerce, power, human strength, and man's accomplishments. We have global cities, smart cities, and sustainable cities. A city is a human settlement of a notable size. 

The city is the world of man: his creation (made in his image) and his pride because it reflects his culture and his civilization.

In the Bible the church is called the "city of God." 

Man’s desire is to have a house. God says, “you are a city”. A house is for your family. A city is for many families. 

Man's desire is to build a business. A business can take care of your family. God says, “you are a city”. A city is made up of many businesses. 

Think bigger!

AG: You can feed your family but only I can feed the multitude. 

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
“You are the light of the world—like a CITY on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭87‬:‭1‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
”On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the Lord.“

You are a CITY.

You are elevated. 

You are put on display. 

You are purposeful: so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.

You shine like an example to the world.

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭10‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a CITY designed and built by God.

A hill is somewhat better for defense and for spotting approaching armies. 

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭21‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
”Meanwhile, the Lord said to me, “Put a watchman on the city wall. Let him shout out what he sees. He should look for chariots drawn by pairs of horses, and for riders on donkeys and camels. Let the watchman be fully alert.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭38‬:‭6‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
”and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. Yes, I will defend this city.“

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25‬:‭28‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
”A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.“

A hill often has breezes that clear out stagnant air.

Often a hill has stone inside to build solid foundations on.

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭7‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
”And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”“

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭23‬ (‭NLT‬‬)
”And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.“

God is turning them into a City for His glory. 

Will you allow God to turn you into a city?

Will you think bigger?
Will you feed others, educate others, or help others generate income?
You are a City.
